Boiler Finance Deals
Boiler Finance Deals
Where do I start?
You may be shopping for a new boiler and be bombarded with all sorts of boiler deals and offers. With many different financial packages on the market for new boiler installations and replacement it can be a bit of a mine field. With that in mind a quick read of this article will give you the tools and knowledge to make your new boiler installation purchase on finance. If you have any questions please contact us.
Boiler Replacements On 0% APR
Most companies who offer 0% interest free credit usually only run it over 12 months. The reason being is the finance companies charge the boiler companies a subsidy for using interest free credit. Anything more than 12 months 0%apr would mean inflated prices. Yes you would be paying no interest on the loan, but the prices would be much inflated so the boiler company can cover their cost to the finance company. So for example if you took interest free credit over 5 years the boiler company may be getting charged 40% of the job loan amount by the fiancee company, so of course the boiler company raises its prices.
My recommendation is to only use 0% interest free credit over a period of no longer than 12 months, as the cost to the boiler company will be quite low, therefore they will not raise their prices.
Buy Now Pay Later
My personal favourite and recommended method of boiler finance if certain conditions are met.
Zero deposit. Look for firms with zero deposit or its not really a payment holiday is it!
The rate of the loan after the payment holiday. Can be good can be bad, some companies will charge rate of 17.9%apr after the initial payment holiday watch out for this and avoid. My company offers a rate of 4.9% after the payment holiday a far better rate.
No early repayment fees. Some companies charge for early repayment if you decide to settle the loan early to avoid interest.
Pay no interest if you settle before the end of the payment holiday. With a boiler installation company such as Boilers 4 Essex you will pay no interest if you decide to settle the boiler loan before the end of the payment holiday, a nice option to have!
Only pay interest on the time you have the loan. Say you have been making payments for 2 years and come into a bit of money. You may want to settle early. Make sure the boiler installation finance company you go with allow this. Also that when you do you only pay the interest in the time you had the boiler.

New Boiler Cost
So What Should A New Boiler Cost?
As with anything, the cost of a new boiler can vary dependant on several factors. I hope that this article can help you identify those factors so that when you buy your new boiler you can make an informed decision. If you have any questions please ask below or at boilers4essex.co.uk
Boiler Manufacturer
There are lots of boiler manufacturers out there that are competing to sell you your next boiler. I personally see three groups of boiler manufacturers:
- Good quality boiler, good customer service.
- Good boiler, poor customer service.
- Cheap nasty boiler, poor customer service.
So obviously we all want to go for number 1. But the fact of the matter is number 1 is always the most expensive option. Usually a manufacturer based in the UK or at least has a large depo with dedicated service engineers and a customer care team in the UK. The boilers are usually very well made and come with a long warranty.
Option 2 boiler manufacturers may have an ok boiler, half decent warranty maybe. Should you however need some help, which should be covered by the warranty, you can never get them on the phone. You get passed around and fobbed off, then they try anything they can to get out of honouring the warranty. When you finally get someone out they are a sub contractor usually an in-experienced boiler engineer working for peanuts who doesn't really care if the problem gets resolved or not because he or she is paid a set fee per visit.
Option 3 boiler manufacturer, bottom end! Do not go there under any circumstances, its a false economy! Boilers made far away, customer service far away, boiler terrible. If you planning on staying in a property for a long period of time this is most definitely not the way to go.

Boiler Size
It stands to reason that the size of your boiler will have an effect on the over all price of your new boiler. The best thing to do is get a good local boiler engineer near you to size the boiler accurately. You would not believe the amount of times I have seen an oversized boiler in a property, usually sized by sales people without a clue or a care. The boiler size can really make a difference on the overall price, its worth getting it right. Especially if a gas pipe upgrade is recommended to accommodate a larger boiler. Remember new boilers are more efficient. We have some great boiler finance deals |
Boiler Type
Not all boilers are the same there are different types follow this link for an explanation on domestic boiler types
The main domestic boiler types are:
- Combination Boiler
- System Boiler
- Heat Only Boiler aka conventional boiler
The funny thing is there is more technology and equipment in a combi boiler, but in general, they are the cheapest type of boiler. The main reason being is they are usually fitted in small houses, there are more small houses therefor the market is more competitive. System boilers and heat only boilers are usually fitted in larger homes and used in conjunction with a hot water cylinder. Its a smaller less competitive market so the prices seem to remain a bit higher for these boilers.
My Boiler Recommendation
It is my honest opinion that going for a option 1 boiler / manufacturer is the way to go. A new boiler is a big investment. Knowing you have a good quality boiler, with a long warranty, with a good manufacturer has got to be worth paying for.
I know sometimes that money is a massive factor in the decision making. But honestly there are so many good boiler finance deals out there now you cant afford not to take one on. Don't compromise on your boiler just spread the cost.

Types Of Boiler Installation
Types Of Boiler Installation
Gas Boiler Replacement
If you a have a pretty modern central heating system with a recent combi boiler, system boiler or heat only boiler (up to 20 years old) you may have the option of doing a straight boiler replacement. If so this is pretty straight forward. It usually takes a single day to carry out.
In some cases the old boilers flue may not have the correct clearances from windows, doors and vents required by new regulations. If this is the case you may need to route the boiler flue through to somewhere acceptable or move the boilers location altogether.
New gas boilers installed must all be condensing. This basically means the boiler is more efficient and recycles the flue gases taking the heat out of them rather than wasting in in the atmosphere. Although this type of boiler is more efficient and will save you money on bills in the long run, when it comes to installing it you have to consider where the condensate pipe has to go. The condensate pipe takes away watery by product of the recycled flue gases to a drain or soak away.
Boiler Replacement Cost
So the big question? How much should I be paying for a straight boiler replacement?
Well let me first talk about who you a getting to install your boiler. You should be using a gas safe registered boiler installation engineer. If you get a cheap boiler installation from a unregistered plumber and pay him cash its not only dangerous for you and your family its a false economy.
Why you ask? Well its simple, they are not qualified in doing the relevant safety checks and I would be pretty certain they wouldn't have a flue gas analyser (they are expensive) to check the boiler for dangerous carbon monoxide. If they are willing to do illegal gas work its probably a "cash job" no receipt any problems in the future you will never see them, not to mention the fact they probably have no liability insurance, if they do it will be void as they are not qualified for gas work.
A big problem down the line can be your boilers manufacturers warranty will be void, if you have any problems down the line. Also you will have no building control certificate should you want to sell your house. All to save what £100-£200, most new boilers come with a 5 year warranty at least, the warranty alone is worth more than that!
OK, I've talked you out of using a dodgy illegal boiler installation. So how much from a reputable company?
- Boiler with standard flue between £800 -£1000 for most standard size homes.
- Raw materials £50 -£100.
- Labour between £500 - £800.
- +vat 20% in the uk.
So expect to pay in the region of £1620 and £2280. They may be additional items added to the boiler installation such as magnetic filters, scale reducers and new thermostats which can also bump the cost up a bit. There are cheaper boilers available on the market but as with everything you get what you pay for.
